This katana is a collaborative work by Naoyuki, the younger brother of the renowned swordsmith Kimura Kanetsugu, and Kanetsugu's son, Kanetsugu. Both smiths and their lineage are known as 'Akamatsu Taro,' characterized by a wide body and extended kissaki, reminiscent of large tachi from the Nanbokucho period. Their blades feature a flamboyant gunome-choji hamon and are highly regarded for their excellent cutting ability, leveraging the techniques passed down from their master.
