This is a newly made katana by Akamatsutaro Kanetsugu, whose real name is Kimura Kanetsada, born in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture in 1951. He apprenticed under his father, Kanetaka, from 1971 and obtained his swordsmith license in 1976. This particular sword was completed in May of Reiwa 8 (2026), followed by polishing and the creation of a shirasaya and habaki.
