This powerful tsuba by Akasaka Tadamasa II is an outstanding example of mature mid-Edo Akasaka workmanship. The iron plate is dense and resonant, with a deep, dark patina. The sukashi motif depicts Yatsuhashi combined with lilies and possibly elements of Musashino grasses.
