Description

This is a pair of menuki depicting two cranes, signed Yoshiaki with a kao. Yoshiaki was a metalworker of the Goto school, said to have trained under Goto Mitsunori and later established his own workshop in Yushima Tenjin. Active from the Kyoho to Meiwa eras (mid-late Edo period), these menuki are made of solid gold with high-relief carving, showing a solid and careful craftsmanship typical of the Goto lineage. They are in beautiful condition with no damage and come with a Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu certificate.
