Description

These are gold menuki in the design of a Gohei Monkey, attributed to the Ichinomiya school. The Gohei Monkey wears a Shinto priest's hat and holds a gohei, a ritual wand used in Shinto ceremonies. The Ichinomiya school was a Kyoto-based metalworking group from the late Edo period. This piece received Hozon certification in 2011.
