This is an ubu, unsigned tanto attributed by the NBTHK to Yokoyama Kijūrō Sukemitsu, a master smith of the Mito domain during the late Edo period (Ansei era, 1854–1860). It features a custom-order kanmuri-otoshi form with a full bō-hi, finely forged ko-itame jigane, and a gentle ko-notare hamon with ko-gunome. The blade is in near-flawless condition, freshly polished, and comes with an NBTHK Kichō Tōken certificate.

This work carries older NBTHK “Kichō”-era papers, which the NBTHK no longer issues and now regards as unreliable. To confirm the attribution, submission to an official Japanese examination body (such as the NBTHK or NTHK) for modern certification could be considered.
