This is a katana made by Yokoyama Fujiwara Sukemitsu, active in Mito during the late Edo period. The blade is dated to the 8th month of Bunkyu 2 (1862). Sukemitsu was a swordsmith who worked at the Shirahatayama Arms Manufactory built by Tokugawa Nariaki, the lord of the Mito domain.
