NihontoWatch一貫斎繁政は、本名を酒井寛といい、明治38年、静岡市音羽町に酒井安次郎(刀匠の宮口正寿の弟)の三男として生まれます。大正10年笠間繁継師に入門します。15年近い修行を経た繁政は笠間繁継より繁の一字をもらいます。初銘は繁正。後に繁政に改銘します。昭和8年より、靖国神社の日本刀鍛錬会や大倉日本刀鍛錬所にて作刀しました。昭和16年、東京都板橋区にて独立し。陸軍受命刀匠の認定を受け、更に、昭和19年には、海軍受命刀匠の認定も受けます。戦後は一貫斎繁政と名乗り精力的に鍛刀を続け、(財)日本美術刀剣保存協会の無鑑査に認定されました。平成8年91才で逝去。一貫斎繁政は戦前戦後の日本刀史に深く名を刻む誉れ高い名匠です。 本刀は、表が鎬造り、裏が片切り刃造りになる児手柏と云われる刀で、二尺四寸九分強の刃長、身幅たっぷりと広く豪壮な姿を示した御刀です。表に玉追龍、裏に独鈷剣の繁正の手による彫刻が彫られています。地鉄は評判の通り上手いもので、板目肌が練れて地沸が付く強い鍛地です。刃文は小沸出来の、大きく湾れた刃に丁子が乱れ込んで、足、葉が盛んに働いています。帽子は乱れ込んで先小丸へ深く確りと返ります。切鑢目地仕立ての茎には力強い刻銘が刻まれています。この刀間違えなく繁正の代表作品であると見受けられます。一際目を引く変わり造の御刀に、入念な彫刻が施された一貫斎繁正の傑作刀です。白鞘、金二重はばき。特別保存刀剣鑑定書。

Shōwa to the present: destruction and revival
The twentieth century nearly killed the craft twice: wartime distortion, then the occupation ban. The NBTHK’s founding in 1948 and licensed forging from 1953 rebuilt the sword as an art, crowned by Living National Treasures and the mukansa rank.
A Hozon-certified blade judged to show notably superior workmanship and a better state of preservation. The bar is higher: re-tempered blades and most unsigned Muromachi/Edo works are excluded.
The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
