This is a wakizashi by Houju from Mutsu province, dating to the early Muromachi period (Oei era). Houju was an old swordsmith of Oshu, alongside Maikusari and Gassan. This piece is made in the kanmuri-otoshi style, and the ji and ha show a calm and characteristic Houju style.
