Explanation This is a -naoshi , in which a gold panel—kept exactly in the suhama-shaped form—is fitted into the body. Upon this ground is arranged a powerfully carved () aged pine, with wisteria blossoms entwining it. The workmanship is conspicuously accomplished and splendid, and it may be regarded as a typical and representative example of work.
