Description

This is a Japanese tsuba with strong Chinese influence, made by the Yagami school in Hizen during the 18th century. The round iron tsuba features complex vine work called karakusa with six articulated peonies on each side, decorated with gold leaf applied over cross-hatching. It has one hitsu-ana for the kozuka, lined with shakudo.
