NihontoWatchNihontoWatch本作は、「國廣」の二字銘が力強く切られた、江戸時代に製作された極めて重厚な鉄鐔で、厚さが6.6ミリ、重さが実に189グラムにも達する極めて分厚い造り込みを示しており、実戦における堅牢性を極限まで追求した「無骨一辺倒」な姿が他にはない強い存在感を放っています。 時間をかけてよく鍛え抜かれた良質な鉄地は、時代を経た鉄特有の力強い味わいを呈し、余飾を一切排したその姿からは当時の武士の質実剛健な気風がひしひしと伝わってきます。 この「國廣」の銘をもつ鐔は、江戸時代中期から後期にかけて、実用を重んじる堅牢な鉄鐔を数多く手掛けた工房(武州國廣派など)の作と見られ、刀匠や甲冑師の系譜を引くような、飾り気のない無垢の鉄の強さや鍛えの妙味を存分に引き出した作風を特徴としています。 手に取ればズッシリとした確かな重みと歴史の重厚感をダイレクトに感じることができ、附属の桐箱に納め、単体で静かにご鑑賞いただくも良し、実戦的で力強い拵の要としてお役立ていただくも良しの、武骨な魅力に溢れた味わい深い一枚です。
