He first entered the gate of Zenjo Kaneyoshi, and later studied diligently under the swordsmith Watanabe Kanenaga. Being both a master smith and a talented instructor, many aspired to become his pupils; he was a great mentor (hakuraku) with many disciples and exceptional leadership. This katana is a soulful masterpiece created in Showa 15 (1940), when Kanemichi was 40 years old. The sugata shows a slight koshi-zori with a noticeable difference between the moto-mihaba and saki-mihaba, resulting in a dignified chu-kissaki form. The jigane is a finely forged, tightly packed ko-itame hada. The hamon is crafted in the style of Seki no Magoroku Kanemoto, executed in nioi-deki with ko-nie, featuring gunome-ba mixed with togari-gunome, creating a spirited sanbonsugi-style edge that is very well made. The koshirae, featuring a modern kuro-ro (black lacquer) saya, adds an extra layer of elegance to this blade.
