This is a tachi by Miyairi Kiyohira, born Miyairi Eizo, who was the younger brother of Living National Treasure Miyairi Akihira (later Yukihira). Made in 1988 when the smith was 64 years old, it features a wide body, thick kasane, and large kissaki, with a vibrant jigane and bright hamon in the Soshu tradition, influenced by Gen Kiyomaro.
