This is a sun-nobi tanto crafted by Sumitani Masamine, a Living National Treasure, in August of Heisei 2 (1990). It features a wide mihaba with a saka choji hamon and koitame jigane, reminiscent of Bitchu Aoe works. The blade is noted for its impressive utsuri, a characteristic of early works where Masamine successfully recreated the utsuri of koto blades.
