The twentieth century nearly killed the craft twice: wartime distortion, then the occupation ban. The NBTHK’s founding in 1948 and licensed forging from 1953 rebuilt the sword as an art, crowned by Living National Treasures and the mukansa rank.
This is a modern katana by Kunitada, a smith from Chikuzen province, known for his work with Noshudo. The blade measures 71.0cm with a deep bo-hi, making it lightweight and well-balanced, ideal for Iai-do practice. It comes with a high-quality koshirae, featuring silver fittings and a black ishime saya, all made by Noshudo.
