NihontoWatchNihontoWatch両面に鎬筋のある短躯の笹穂槍。収められている拵の猪目形の鞘には黒漆地の縁に卵の殻を塗り込めて装飾としている。卵殻塗込鞘は、江戸時代の洒落者が拵などの装飾に採り入れており、職人の優れた感性と技術が示されたものとして貴重である。柄は銀金具で装い、端部には矢筈を意匠した切り込みが設けられており、この槍が、弓矢を模したものであることが理解できよう。即ち、世に言う為朝矢の根である。怪力で知られる平安時代の武将鎮西八郎為朝(ためとも)が所持したと伝えられる、透かしを設けた笹穂造の大鏃がこの手本であり、古を偲んだ江戸時代刀工が同様の作を遺している。作者の石道助利は紀州石堂派の出身。寛永頃の初代、寛文頃の二代、元禄頃の三代、この他に八左衛門尉の添銘がある助利が知られている。 本作は穂長が十五センチ以下のため銃砲刀剣類登録証が付帯していません。
