Description

It has arrived, it has arrived! A hira-zukuri wakizashi by Kanenori, a wazamono smith of the Mino San'ami school, which appears just like the "Yoto Muramasa" currently popular in Touken Ranbu. The lineage of this Kanenori is a prestigious school of swordsmiths beginning with the son of Naoe Shizu Kanetomo, continuing from the early Muromachi period around the Oei era (1394) (632 years ago). This wakizashi is an old piece from around the 3rd year of Eiroku (1560) (466 years ago), the time when Oda Nobunaga’s force of 4,000 defeated the great army of 25,000 led by the Taishu of Tokai, Imagawa Yoshimoto, at Okehazama, establishing Nobunaga’s foothold for the unification of the country. This wakizashi exhibits a fine hira-zukuri sugata with sori and a distinct difference between the moto-mihaba and saki-mihaba. The jigane is a well-forged itame-hada mixed with masame-hada, showing a bright metal. The hamon is a nioi-deki with ko-nie, featuring a notare-ba with sets of three continuous gunome-ba, repeating the pattern of notare and three gunome, notare and three gunome, fired continuously. The hamon is symmetrical on both sides (omote and ura), appearing flamboyant and magnificently recreating the blade of the "Yoto Muramasa" right here. The yasurime on the nakago are higaki-yasuri, a superb work following the okite of the wazamono smith Kanenori. On this occasion, an old collector has entrusted this to us, saying, "I have grown old, so please pass this on at a low price to someone who will cherish it." Therefore, we are offering it at a special bargain price. Please enjoy this masterpiece wakizashi by Kanenori, which can be viewed as a "Yoto Muramasa."
