Description

This is a wakizashi by Kunishige of Suita in Bishu province, dating to the early Edo period (Kanei era). It is said to be well-suited for battojutsu (drawing sword technique) and was valued as an easy-to-handle one-handed sword. Kunishige, likely of the O-Yoga school, aimed to recreate the style of old Soshu works, adding his own originality and creating a blade with bright nie that was highly popular.
