(Famous in Touken Ranbu) (Saijo Owazamono) It has appeared, it has appeared—a sword passed down through generations in an old family as an Izumi no Kami Fujiwara Kanesada (Nosada). It is a wonderful sword bearing the famous Kanesada mei that became "Nosada," but as it has never been submitted for shinsa (formal appraisal) until now, please treat it for the present as a "kibo-mei" (hopeful signature) that we wish it to be so. The original famous Izumi no Kami Kanesada was born in Koshu, came to Seki to become a pupil of the first generation Kanesada, and later became his adopted son. He is the "elder brother" figure who entered into a brotherly bond with Magoroku Kanemoto. He received the title of Izumi no Kami around the beginning of the Eisho era in the Muromachi period (1504) (522 years ago). This sword was originally a long blade of 2 shaku 5 sun, which a later samurai shortened to match his own swordsmanship style for use as a sashiryo; it displays a fine, masterfully shaped sugata with a difference between the moto-mihaba and saki-mihaba and a somewhat high shinogi. The jigane is a well-compacted ko-itame hada with bright steel and ji-nie attached to the ji. The hamon is a spirited round-topped gunome-ba in nioi-deki with ko-nie, mixed with sharp-topped ha, containing kinsuji, nie-suji, and nioi-ashi within the blade. It is a bright blade that truly looks like the sharp-cutting Saijo Owazamono work of Nosada, but please keep in mind this is strictly a kibo-mei. A tasteful koshirae from the Edo period adds further elegance to this Nosada sword. As this is a Nosada sword passed down through generations, and having recently received a top-grade togi (polishing) and maintenance, the owners have said that as they have grown old, they wish to pass it on cheaply to someone who will cherish it for future generations. Therefore, we are offering it at a special bargain price, even cheaper than a gendaito. Izumi no Kami Kanesada swords are currently extremely popular due to Touken Ranbu. Even as a kibo-mei, this is highly recommended for those who wish to own a Nosada sword. Please enjoy it.
