This is a tanto attributed to the Tsoshinaga school, dating to the late Muromachi period. The blade features a bright hamon with a pattern resembling "Sanbonsugi". It comes with a Hozon certificate, a copper habaki, and a shirasaya.

Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
