Muromachi turned sword making into an industry: the uchigatana rose with massed infantry warfare, Osafune and Seki produced bundle swords beside custom orders, and the Ming trade carried Japanese blades abroad by the tens of thousands.
This wakizashi by Sagami no Kami Fujiwara Hiroshige, a smith of the Shimohara school, features an elegant form with a well-forged jitetsu and a bright, clear suguha hamon. It comes with a double habaki adorned with a maple and deer motif, a shirasaya, and an NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho certificate. Despite minor rust in some areas, the blade is in excellent condition for appreciation and would benefit from further polishing.
