Muromachi turned sword making into an industry: the uchigatana rose with massed infantry warfare, Osafune and Seki produced bundle swords beside custom orders, and the Ming trade carried Japanese blades abroad by the tens of thousands.
This is a wakizashi by Hiroshige of the Bushu Shimohara school, dating to the late Muromachi period. While it lacks an appraisal certificate, the jigane, hamon, and nakago shape suggest it is a Shimohara school work. The koshirae is in good condition, and the tsuka-ito appears to have been rewrapped.
