Description

This is a Katana attributed to Hoju, from Mutsu province, dating to the early Nanbokucho period (Ryakuo era, around 1338-1342). It is o-suriage mumei (greatly shortened and unsigned) but retains a dignified presence. The blade comes with a gold-plating double habaki, a shirasaya with calligraphy, and an Hon'ami Kōchū origami valuing it at seven gold pieces. It is certified as Tokubetsu Hozon by the NBTHK.
