Description

It has arrived, it has arrived! The famous Magoroku Kanemoto of the sword world, the creator of the world-renowned sanbonsugi hamon, is a sword that is the object of desire for sword enthusiasts. The Kanemoto family used the name Magoroku for generations, and their swords are famous throughout the land. This Kanemoto is a sword by the third generation Magoroku Kanemoto, dating to around the Tenbun era of the Muromachi period (1543) (482 years ago), exactly the time when firearms were introduced to Tanegashima from Portugal. Since the Sengoku period, Kanemoto has been excessively famous as an owazamono that cuts exceptionally well. The "Ninenbutsu Kanemoto" is a famous sword named for its magnificent sharpness, said to be so keen that the opponent did not realize they had been cut until they had finished chanting a nenbutsu prayer twice. This sword exhibits a sharp sugata with a difference between the moto-mihaba and saki-mihaba, with the haniku thinned and a slight sori. The jigane has a slightly dark tone with a finely packed ko-itame hada mixed with masame hada, and the presence of ji-nie on the ji is charming. The hamon is in nioi-deki with ko-nie, featuring a low ko-gunome-ba mixed with togari-ba, skillfully expressing the sanbonsugi pattern in a charming manner. It is indeed a famous sword by Kanemoto that demonstrates the fearsome sharpness of an wazamono. On this occasion, an elderly connoisseur (sukisha) informed us that they have grown old and wished to pass this on to a successor; since everyone who loves Japanese swords knows of the 3rd generation Kanemoto, yet extant works are few and remain an object of longing, they asked us to sell it at a low price. Therefore, we are offering it at a special bargain price. Please do enjoy it.
