The mi-haba is wide, and the nagasa is long for a sunnobi-tanto, showing a powerful and magnificent sugata. [Jitetsu] Itame-hada mixed with mokume, the hada-machi is visible. Jinie is thickly applied, and chikei appears frequently. [Hamon] Based on notare mixed with gunome. The habuchi is covered in thick nie, with sunagashi and kinsuji appearing actively within the ha. The nioiguchi is bright and clear. [Boshi] Midare-komi, ending in a sharp togari-gokoro with a long kaeri. [Koshirae] Shakudo nanako-ji fuchi-kashira with autumn insects design (takabori, iro-e). Menuki: Chrysanthemum design (shakudo, yuhana-shi). Kozuka: Shakudo nanako-ji with autumn flowers design. Saya: Black urushi-nuri. [Explanation] This blade is attributed to the Shizu school (Kaneuji). Kaneuji was originally a swordsmith of the Yamato Tegai school who later moved to Mino and studied under Masamune, becoming one of the "Masamune Jittetsu" (Ten Famous Students of Masamune). The work exhibits the characteristic "Shizu" style, blending the traditional Yamato style with the Soshu-den style introduced by Masamune. The jitetsu is robust with prominent chikei, and the hamon is rich in nie activity with kinsuji and sunagashi, demonstrating high artistic quality and dignity.
