Description

This is an unsigned tsuba from the late Muromachi period, attributed to the Heianjo school in Yamashiro province. It features a tate-marugata (vertically elongated oval) iron plate with suemon-zogan (inlay) of various patterns, including family crests, using only brass. The design, including the line and dot inlays around the seppa-dai and the shape of the kozuka-hitsu-ana, shows remnants of Ounin tsuba techniques, indicating its age.
