Ichiyu Masanori, who went by the name Chujiro, was a student of Yasuda Michitsune who left behind works in the Goto family style. This kozuka is a work depicting soaring butterflies in a pattern-like style with distinct takabori expression. Against a background of jet-black shakudo nanako-ji, the butterflies are made to stand out with vivid coloration. The gold and silver iroe possess both warm tones and a clear luster, but the depiction is further enhanced by the delicate kebori added to the thin wings. The central butterfly, which features gold and silver hira-zogan and iroe despite being on the same shakudo migaki-ji, is also beautiful.
