This is a masterpiece by Nagasone Kotetsu Nyudo Okisato, highly regarded as the 'Yokozuna of Shinto in the East'. Originally an armorer from Echizen, Kotetsu transitioned to sword making in Edo around Meireki 2 (1656) and became a representative master of Edo due to his excellent forging. This particular sword, dated Kanbun 2 (1662), exhibits a typical Kanbun Shinto sugata with a strong jigane, bright hamon, and a unique 'juzuba' (rosary-bead pattern) hamon, showcasing his characteristic style.
