Description

This katana was made by Kunihide, an active smith in Sagami Province during the late Edo period. It features a graceful form with a narrow tip and extended kissaki, showcasing a Soshu-den style with fine ko-itame flowing into masame hada. The hamon is notare with ko-nie deki, intensely mixed with kinsuji and sunagashi, and a flamboyant boshi. The blade also bears a kinpun-mei (gold powder inscription) indicating that Ando Denjuro Tomoshige cut three bodies at Senju in Keio 3 (1867), proving its exceptional sharpness.
