Weight (blade only): 600g It has arrived, it has arrived—a highly significant piece from a historical perspective. The original *mei* is "Kofu-ju Minamoto Nobushige," also known to sign as "Oshu Koga-jonai Kofu-ju Minamoto Nobushige." His real name was Kanai Onozaburo. He was a disciple of the famous Tairyusai Sokan, who was a domain smith for the Koga Clan. He established a forge at Yushima Tenjin in Edo. During that era, there was a trend for smiths to travel and forge in various locations, much like Taikei Naotane. This sword is a precious piece made when Nobushige, at his master’s request, traveled to forge in Mutsu Shirakawa (Fukushima Prefecture), the birthplace of Tairyusai Sokan, on his master's behalf. Tairyusai Sokan was a high-ranking disciple of the Bakumatsu master Koyama Munetsugu, and the maker of this sword, Nobushige, was a disciple of Sokan, placing him in a prestigious lineage of swordsmiths. This sword was crafted around the Keio era (1865) (161 years ago), exactly during the time when the Tokugawa Shogunate forces and the Satsuma alliance fought fiercely against the Choshu army at the Hamaguri Gate of the Imperial Palace, the Choshu Expeditions began, Tokugawa Yoshinobu became Shogun, and subsequently returned political power to the Imperial Court through the *Taisei Hokan*, leading to the Decree for the Restoration of Imperial Rule. The *sugata* of this sword shows a wonderful form with a difference between the *motohaba* and *sakihaba* and a slightly extended *kissaki*. The *jigane* displays a beautiful, tightly packed *ko-itame hada*. The *hamon* is a *suguha* style in *nioi-deki* with *ko-nie*, featuring active workings along the *habuchi*. It is a masterpiece that resembles the high-quality *suguha* works of his master, Tairyusai Sokan. This sword has been cherished for generations in an old family, but as they have grown older, they have entrusted it to us with the request to pass it on at a low price to someone who will treasure it. Therefore, we are offering it at a special bargain price. The Edo-period *shirasaya* is also very valuable. Please enjoy this masterpiece by Mutsu-ju Nobushige, which is highly significant as a historical reference.
