This is a katana by the first-generation swordsmith Hoki no Kami Hirotaka, active in the Meireki era (1655-1658) from Echizen province. He was a student of Kanetane and known as a wazamono smith, producing sharp blades. The sword features a ko-itame jihada with chikei and a bright gunome midare hamon, and comes with a mid-Edo period uchigatana-koshirae.
