This katana is a fine example of Shodai Hoki no Kami Hirotaka's mature work from the early Edo period. It features a tight ko-itame jihada and a bold gunome midare hamon with active ashi and sunagashi. The blade is accompanied by an Edo-period koshirae with a large iron tomoe tsuba attributed to Sadanaga of the Kii School.
