The twentieth century nearly killed the craft twice: wartime distortion, then the occupation ban. The NBTHK’s founding in 1948 and licensed forging from 1953 rebuilt the sword as an art, crowned by Living National Treasures and the mukansa rank.
This is a modern katana by Yasumoto Yoshimitsu, a master swordsmith from Iwate Prefecture, known for his powerful form and lively gunome hamon. The blade features a tightly forged itame-hada and prominent kinsuji activity. It comes with a newly made koshirae and is in excellent condition, suitable for immediate tameshigiri.
