Description

This is a mumei Kanayama tsuba from the early Muromachi period, featuring a round iron plate with left and right myoga (ginger) motifs in sukashi (openwork) with kebori (line engraving). It exhibits rich, lustrous iron bones on the rim and plate, characteristic of Kanayama work. Despite its small size, it possesses a strong presence and is accompanied by an NBTHK Hozon Tosogu paper attributing it to 'Mumei Kanayama'.
