Description

This katana is made by Matsuba Kunimasa (Ichiro), a leading contemporary swordsmith born in 1959. He received the Association Chairman's Award for four consecutive years from 2011 to 2014 and was certified as Mukansa in 2014. This work, made in 2001 when the smith was 42, is considered a copy of Nagayoshi (Chogi) due to its form and style, bearing the auspicious phrase 'Kikuju Mannen' (longevity like a chrysanthemum for ten thousand years).
