This is an iron tsuba from the late Edo period, featuring a bamboo leaf design executed with nikubori-jisukashi (raised carving with openwork) and kebori (hairline carving). The iron displays a refined quality with a subtle brownish rust color, suggesting its inherent nature rather than an artificially cultivated patina. The design cleverly arranges bamboo leaves in a circular pattern around the seppa-dai, with intricate details like simulated insect damage.
