This is a beautiful futatokoromono set (kogai and kotsuka) signed by Mikami Yoshihide. The pieces feature shakudo plates with very fine nanako, housed in yamagane cases, and decorated with gold, silver, and shakudo cockerels. Yoshihide was active in the mid-19th century (late Edo period) and was a student of Ishigoro Masayoshi. The set is in great condition and comes with an NBTHK Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho paper from 1978.

This work carries older NBTHK “Kichō”-era papers, which the NBTHK no longer issues and largely disavows today. To confirm the attribution, submission to an official Japanese examination body (such as the NBTHK or NTHK) for modern certification could be considered.
