浅野藩の家紋と浅野藩と龍の金象嵌有る銃身
Muromachi
Specifications
124 cm
Nagasa 124cm, Barrel 90cm, Caliber 1.4cm. It has arrived—a precious hinawagun handed down from the famous Banshu Ako Domain of Chushingura fame. Chushingura is a major historical event that has profoundly stirred the hearts of the Japanese people. Production of firearms in Sakai began ten years after the introduction of guns to Tanegashima in Tenbun 12 (1543) (483 years ago), after which mass production of firearms commenced in Sakai. This clearly shows that Sakai was a major industrial production center. Located near Kyo and Osaka and serving as a port to Shikoku and Kyushu, the importance of the city of Sakai during the Muromachi period carried the exact same significance as present-day Osaka or Tokyo. This hinawagun is also a firearm crafted by a Sakai gunsmith as a special order from the Asano Clan. This hinawagun is a popular caliber of 1.4cm, and the decorations consist of luxurious shinchu zogan (brass inlay). The presence of the characters for the Asano Domain, the Asano family kamon of "maru ni chigai takano-ha" (crossed hawk feathers in a circle), and a spirited dragon design in magnificent shinchu zogan clearly marks this as a precious, specially ordered hinawagun. On this occasion, an elderly long-time collector informed us, "I have grown old, so please pass this on to the next generation at a low price," and entrusted us with this piece. Therefore, we are offering this Sakai-tsutsu, adorned with luxurious shinchu zogan—a style currently gaining excitement due to the construction of a firearms museum in Sakai—at a special bargain price. For those searching for a hinawagun, please be sure to enjoy this opportunity.
