This is a katana made by Yoshihara Kuniie, the 3rd generation, whose real name was Yoshihara Shoji. He was designated a Mukansa swordsmith at the age of 37 in Showa 57 (1982) and recognized as a holder of Tokyo Intangible Cultural Property. The blade was made in January, Heisei 1 (1989) and features a nagasa of 71.1cm and a sori of 2.74cm.
