This is a tachi by swordsmith Masatoshi, modeled after the famous Oodenta Mitsuyo (National Treasure) from the Kaga Maeda family. It received the Effort Prize at the New Master Swordsmith Exhibition. Masatoshi, born on May 25, 1920, studied under Hisahiro Miyaguchi and Kimasa Tsukamoto, establishing his forge in Shomaru Pass, Saitama Prefecture. He is known for his magnificent large kissaki and gunome hamon, and has also won the Prince Takamatsu Award at the New Master Swordsmith Exhibition.
