NihontoWatchNihontoWatch法安の流れを汲むと云われる紀州鐔工貞命(さだなが)の、武州赤坂初代忠正が得意とする斧に松皮菱を組み合わせた「鉢の木」図を再現した鐔。「いざ鎌倉」の謂いを遺した佐野源左衛門が主題の謡曲に取材したもので、原題の物語性に加えて迫力のある空間構成が魅力。質の良い地鉄は色黒く、一部に光沢の強い鉄骨様の異鉄が現れて緊張感のある景色となっている。斧の刃が、斜めに構成されていて刃を想わせるように工夫されている点も面白い。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
