A tanto attributed to Aizu Motooki, an excellent smith from the late Edo period. Motooki was born in Aizu in 1818 and became a student of Ishido Unju Korekazu in Edo in 1859. He is considered one of the best smiths from Aizu during the late Edo period, along with Aizu 11th generation Izumi no Kami Kanesada.
