Description

It has appeared, it has appeared! A celebrated sword handed down through generations of an old family as a Yamato Shizu Kanetomo has emerged. Yamato Shizu refers to works from the late Kamakura period, around the Gen'o era (1319, 706 years ago), when Shizu Saburo Kaneuji—famous as one of the Masamune Jittetsu—resided in Yamato and signed with the name Kaneuji, prior to moving to Shizu in Noshu. This sword is a celebrated blade traditionally attributed to his son, Kanetomo, from the Nanbokucho period around the Kenmu era (1334, 691 years ago). The mune of this sword is a shin-no-mitsumune. Originally a tachi of approximately 2 shaku 7 sun, it has been shortened into its current form, displaying a fine sugata with a slight difference between the moto-mihaba and saki-mihaba. The jigane is a bright, well-forged small itame-hada mixed with mokume-hada and masame-hada, and the horimono consists of bo-hi. The hamon is a nioi-deki with nie-deki in a sugu-cho style, incorporating small gunome-ashi. The habuchi exhibits uchinoke and nijuba, with the interior of the blade featuring kinsuji and sunagashi, making it a masterpiece with magnificent hataraki and many highlights. Masterpieces of Yamato Shizu are rarely encountered, and a traditional attribution to Yamato Shizu Kanetomo is precious. However, even as a work of the Tegai school—the lineage of Kanenaga, the progenitor of the school Kanetomo originated from—it is undoubtedly a masterpiece blade. The koshirae, adorned with Higo kanagu, adds further elegance to this celebrated sword passed down as a Yamato Shizu Kanetomo. On this occasion, the owners of the old family mentioned, "We have grown old, so please pass this on at a low price to someone who will cherish it." Therefore, while it would certainly pass for Tokubetsu Hozon Token immediately, we are offering it at a specially discounted price. Please enjoy this celebrated sword, which holds great promise for future advancement.
