Sengoku Seki was an industry: smiths organized under their tutelary Kasuga shrine, arming the war bands of central Japan. Magoroku Kanemoto’s sanbonsugi and the finest Kanesada work prove quality survived inside mass production.
This wakizashi by Kanenobu features a folded mei and a copper habaki. The blade has no rust or chips, with a shinogi-zukuri sugata and an iori-mune. The jigane is itame-tsumu, and the hamon is a straight-based gunome with ashi. It has a ko-kissaki and a suriage nakago. The smith is identified as 'Noshu Seki Ju Kanenobu'.
