[Explanation] The Enju school was a lineage of swordsmiths in Higo Province (Kumamoto Prefecture) that flourished from the late Kamakura period through the Nanboku-cho period. Founded by Taro Kunimura, who is said to be the grandson of Rai Kuniyuki, the school's style closely resembles the Rai school of Yamashiro, characterized by an elegant suguba and a refined jigane. This work is a mumei wakizashi attributed to the Enju school. The jigane is beautifully forged with a dense texture, and the suguba hamon is bright and composed, exhibiting the classic characteristics of the school. The koshirae is also well-made, featuring high-quality shakudo fittings, making it an excellent piece for both appreciation and collection.
