Jitetsu: Itame-hada mixed with mokume-hada, showing a refined texture with jinie and shirake-utsuri. Hamon: Chu-suguha with a soft, misty nioiguchi. The habuchi is bright with ko-nie, and the boshi is sugu with a ko-maru return. Koshirae: Tsuba: Mokko-gata, iron ground with gold nunome-zogan. Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako ground, autumn insects and flowers design in takabori with iro-e. Menuki: Shakudo ground, floral design with iro-e. Kozuka: Shakudo nanako ground, autumn insects and flowers design in takabori with iro-e. Saya: Black roiro-nuri lacquer. Explanation: This blade is attributed to the Enju school of Higo Province. The Enju school was founded by Taro Kunimura, the grandson of Rai Kuniyuki, who moved from Yamashiro to Higo. The workmanship closely resembles the Rai school, characterized by a refined jitetsu and a gentle suguha hamon. This particular piece exhibits the classic characteristics of the school, showing a dignified and elegant appearance. The accompanying koshirae is also of high quality, featuring unified autumn insect motifs in shakudo.
