NihontoWatchNihontoWatch水戸は徳川御三家のひとつで三十五万石の城下町である。そこでは水戸金工といわれる一派が栄え、水戸彫りの作域を形成し、元孚、一柳友善、玉川美久、打越弘寿、萩谷勝平など数々の名工を輩出した。 打越弘貞は弘寿の門人の筆頭で金玉堂や秀現斎と号す。人物や動植物の高彫を得意として技量が高く巧手である。 本作も四分一地に猛虎の高彫見事で川の鋤下げ彫も技量が光り出来が良い。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
