About the maker
Yokoyama Sukenaga祐永
This is a work by Yokoyama Sukenaga, one of the last swordsmiths to adorn the glorious Bizen sword tradition. Sukenaga, the second son of Sukehei, inherited the family headship when his elder brother Sukemori was adopted into the Sukesada family. The blade exhibits a magnificent, long form with a fine, muji-style ko-itame hada and a vibrant midare-ba hamon with a tight nioiguchi, characteristic of his得意 style.
