Description

This antique tsuba, made by Hoichi in 1860 during the Edo period, features a Gyofu (fishermen) motif with intricate carvings of men holding fishing nets and rods, set against ocean waves. It showcases traditional Japanese techniques of single-sided etched decoration (katagiri kebori) and gold and silver inlay (kin-gin hirazogan). The tsuba is certified as Hozon by the NBTHK, recognizing its historical and artistic value.
